The University Grants Commission (UGC) took an important step to give support & help to the students and their parents in the admission related process. Now, There is “No” provision of submitting the original documents & certificates of the student with the Universities/ Colleges for admission, This practice was in fashion by many colleges and universities across the India which has now come to an end after UGC . Those students, who want to withdraw the admission from the institute for better selection but couldn’t are relieved now.

What else have been introduced by UGC ?

UGC isn't stopped here, the mandatory provision of purchasing the prospectus by Institutes/ Colleges is also removed. Educational institutions have to offer a full refund to the student if admission is cancelled within 15 days. Institutions are also bond with the rule of Advance Fee. They cannot charge a complete fee from the student at the time of admission, the fee for semester or year in which the student is appearing can be charged. “This enabling provision is in line with the UGC guidelines on Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) and Model Curricula which are geared towards promoting a student’s inter-institutional mobility." - UGC.

No need to submit original documents during admission, says UGC

The University Grants Commission has brought and applied bunch of rules to end the “coercive and profiteering” activities performed by educational institutions in issues related to certificate verification at the time of admission, remittance of fees and refunds among others. All these rules which implemented to educational institutions are part of the notification issued by UGC called ‘Remittance and Refund of Fees and other student-centric issues.

A committee had formed by UGC only for this purpose, ‘according to officials’, after getting several complaints from students and their parents on the issue of non-refund of fee and retention of original certificates by higher educational institutions.

This notification covers all Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Research programs run by all universities recognised by the UGC and all colleges under their affiliating domain and deemed universities. Now onwards the admission process will become easy for the students and parents as well.
