A student of Class 12 has made India proud by winning the first prize in the Creativity Expression Contest organised by External Affairs Ministry in collaboration with CBSE on the auspicious occasion of India-Africa Forum Summit. Vikas Pandey the winner is the students of Rameshwaram International Academy, Lucknow. The boy has won the prize in the 'Classes IX-XII' category. He has won the prize at the national level for his Hindi poem 'Gandhi Aur Africa'. As a reward, he has been awarded 'Rs 40,000'.
The India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) was conducted to celebrate the close partnership between Africa and India. For the same a circular was released by CBSE for all its member schools to participate.
Abha Shah, Principal of the Academy said, "He was invited by External Affairs Ministry to attend the ministerial session of the India-Africa Forum Summit in New Delhi. He also witnessed the India-Africa Forum Exhibition and met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj".
The contest was divided into three categories namely:
- Category 1: For candidates of Classes 1 to 5
- Category 2: For candidates of Classes 6 to 8
- Category 3: For candidates of Classes 9 to 12
When was the competition conducted?
The candidates were given the choice to select any of the 22 specified languages and English to participate. The competition was held from September 21 to September 28, 2015, in all the CBSE affiliated schools who took the initiative to participate.
Selection Procedure
The schools were given the authority to select the best entry in each of the category and submit the same to the Regional Offices of CBSE. Thereafter the Regional offices of CBSE were given the authority to shortlist five best entries in each category and submitted the list to the Joint Secretary and In-charge (Academic & Training), CBSE.
