IIT Pre-Placement offers hit a record high this year so the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is expecting High Number of Placement in this December. Pre-placement Offers (PPO’s) are increased up by 25-30%, compared to last year. This year massive companies have taken the PPO route for direct job recruitment, these are same companies that had only hired students as intern last year.
Several IIT-Roorkee candidates got PPOs offers from seasoned companies such as American Express India, Vodafone, Accenture Services, Visa and Capital One Financial Services. Barclays visited at IIT-Kanpur to offer PPOs to the candidates, but has not confirmed its participation in the placement season. HUL is another such company.
In the past, students and their departments used to apply for internships; now it is a the centralised process coordinated by the placement cell. This season of recruitment looks positive with 230 companies having 320 profiles for placement.
According to Manu Santhanam (IIT-Madras Training and Placement Advisor), PPOs are on the rise across IIT’s. This institute received 69 PPOs last year and this year it has received 64 PPOs already.
