Problem solving assessment question papers will be dispatched to schools by the 3rd week of December. The PSA exam is scheduled for January 18th 2014 from 10am to 12noon for the 9th and 11th students. A circular issued by the board stated, "Schools are requested to verify if any bilingual question paper is also needed to be sent i.e. Hindi & English, for the candidate(s) opting Hindi medium. The above statement is to be confirmed by each school online."
PSA was an optional test which students took to gauge their qualitative and quantitative skills. The board has made this test compulsory and its marks will be included in the marking scheme of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system for 9th class in its formative assessment. Since CCE is not applicable to students of class XI they will be given certificates with the scores mentioned.
Scores will be reflected in one language (English/Hindi), mathematics, science and social sciences for class 9 students. The Board has taken into account the numbers from the enrolment data sent by schools so there is no separate registration required from students.
The quantity of question papers to be sent by CBSE will be in accordance with the students registered as it is a multiple choice question format. An Optical mark recognition answer sheet will be included inside the booklet. This will be a common question paper regardless of whether the student has opted for science, commerce or humanities stream, clarified the board. "There will be a single question paper covering qualitative reasoning, quantitative reasoning and language conventions," the notification added.
