Another Super 30 Student Gets Scholarship From Japan

Kunal Kumar has been awarded a scholarship by a Japanese university to pursue higher education and he is yet another student from mathematician Anand Kumar's Super 30 programme who got selected.

After clearing the JEE Main Exam in the year 2013, Kunal got admission in chemical engineering at IIT Guwahati. He has just completed his second year at IIT and now he will be able to seek admission directly in the third year at the university.

"It is a dream comes true for Kunal. Till four years ago, he was struggling even for a proper education, even though he had high dreams. His father had no job and he gave home tuitions to eke out a living. Today, he is leaving IIT for an international university," said Kumar. He will leave for Japan in September.

Anand Kumar the director of Super 30 programme was invited by the University of Tokyo in Japan for educational collaboration as International exposure in a technologically advanced nation like Japan will help these children a lot in the near future.

Further Anand Kumar said Tokyo University`s Yashino Haroshi representatives have several times visited Patna and discussed that how more deserving students could benefit from the collaboration. Its a matter of great satisfaction that students from the underprivileged sections are not only reaching IIT with the help of Super 30, but also getting an opportunity to study at globally acclaimed institutions.

Who was the Earlier Winner?

Earlier this year, Super 30's Abhishek Gupta was selected for education in Tokyo after clearing the JEE Main. Son of a Gurgaon-based generator operator Dilip Gupta, Abhishek was selected to pursue an international programme on environmental sciences from the University of Tokyo as part of a four-year scholarship.

What is Super 30?

Super 30 provides free coaching and assistance to deprived students so that they can get admission in the renowned IIT’s. Every year the institute selects 30 students from the underprivileged sections of society.

These students are taught for around one year free of cost to clear the entrance test for IITs. In the past 13 years, 308 of the institute`s 360 students have cleared it.
