Stay Motivated: As they say "All battles are first won or lost, in mind", it is very important to believe in yourself and stay motivated.
Know What to Study: Like any other exam, the foremost step towards CAT preparation must be understanding its syllabus and the exam pattern. Since there is no prescribed syllabus for CAT, the students are required to adopt a systematic and strategic approach while preparing for the exam. So the first CAT Preparation tips are that you must go through the past year’s question papers. CAT Question Paper is divided into three major sections namely,
- Quantitative Ability.
- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning.
- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension.

The best part is that CAT preparation does not require any special training. Maximum questions that are covered in the exam are from Class 8 to undergraduate course. The candidate has to revise what all he/she has studied and rest required is a lot of practice.
The concepts used in this examination are broad of class 10 level.
CAT Coaching Classes: Firstly, decide whether or not you should opt for coaching classes. The level of your preparation can one of the deciding factors but don’t forget to consider other factors such as your schedule. If you are working then you can opt for CAT night classes offered by various institutes.
Build Core Concepts: The next step is to focus on building the foundation of concepts in your mind. At this stage, it is not advisable to take random mock tests instead, try to focus on fundamental concepts and practice as much as you can.
Work on your Strong and Weak areas: Practice the sections you are weak and don't forget to work on your strengths.
Practice with CAT Tutorials: CAT tutorials will be available on the CAT website from 18th October 2017. Candidates are advised to work on the tutorials to understand the format of the examination.
