NIOS Streams of Study - Stream 1, 2, 3 & 4

The admissions in these four NIOS streams are mutually exclusive i.e., the learner can only opt for one of them. National Institute of Open Schooling is the largest open schooling system in the world comprising for over 5000 study centres with 3,50,000 students enrolled from all over India. NIOS was established in November 1989 as an autonomous organisation by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. NIOS offers admission in its 4 streams. NIOS Admission 2018 - For Class 10, 12 and Vocational Courses

NIOS Stream 1

For all Learners/ Freshers

Applicable for all Learners
The admission is open in two blocks in a year
The examination is conducted in April/May for Block 1 Learners and October/ November for Block 2 Learners.

NIOS Stream 2

For unsuccessful/failures of recognised boards to appear in Oct- exam to save precious one year.

The learners who had appeared but could not clear or who were eligible but could not appear the Public Examination of Secondary/Senior Secondary Levels from any recognised Examination Board for the same subject combination in which they had appeared.
The learners of this stream will be eligible to appear in the October-November Secondary/Senior Secondary Public Examinations of NIOS.

NIOS Stream 3

For unsuccessful/failures of recognised boards to appear through On-Demand Examination System (ODES) at Secondary Level

This stream is open for admission through out the year.
The stream includes learners who have already passed Secondary from any recognised Board and want to take part admission in one subject or up to 4 subjects for updating their qualification or
Learners who had appeared but could not clear or who were eligible but could not appear in the Public examination of Secondary level from any recognised Board in the same subject combination in which they had appeared and want to appear through On Demand Examination System of NIOS at Senior Secondary level.

NIOS Stream 4

For unsuccessful/failures of recognised boards to appear through On-Demand Examination System (ODES) at Senior Secondary level.

This stream is open for admission throughout the year.
The stream includes learners who have already passed Senior Secondary or above
from any recognised Board/University and want to take part admission in one subject or up to 4 subjects for updating their qualification or
Learners who had appeared but could not clear or who were eligible but could not appear in the Public examination of Senior Secondary level from any recognised Board in the same subject combination in which they had appeared and want to appear through On Demand Examination System of NIOS at Senior Secondary level.
