About CBSE NET

CBSE NET / UGC NET 2017 (National Eligibility Test) schedule and detailed brochure are released by the CBSE on behalf of UGC (University Grant Commission). The candidates can apply for the same through online mode. CBSE UGC NET exam is conducted by the Central Board of School Examination (CBSE) twice in a year i.e. in the month of June to July and December to January. But this time, CBSE NET 2017 will not be conducted twice a year. CBSE UGC NET 2017 is being conducted only once in a year i.e. on 5 November 2017. CBSE conducts the NET and UGC is the body responsible for all other activities of the exam so the exam is referred as CBSE NET and UGC NET.

The candidates who have done the master degree with minimum 55% (50% for OBC/ SC/ ST/ PWD) marks are eligible to apply. The last date of submission of the applications for UGC NET Exam 2017 is 11 September 2017, and the date of examination is 5 November 2017. 

CBSE NET 2017 is for Indian nationals for the Eligibility for one of the followings Indian Universities and Colleges:

  • Assistant Professor only.
  • Junior Research Fellowship only.
  • Both the Assistant Professor and JRF.

CBSE NET Eligibility criteria

Academic qualification: The candidates must have done Master’s degree or equivalent examination from the Universities or Institutions which is recognised by UGC in the selected subjects with minimum 55% marks (50% for OBC/SC/ST/PWD).

  • The candidates who are going to appear or appeared in the qualifying Master’s degree examination and waiting for the final result and the candidates whose qualifying exam have been delayed for any reason are also eligible to apply for CBSE NET.

Age limitation and Relaxation:

Assistance Professor: There is no upper age limit for applying for eligibility for Assistant Professor.

JRF: The candidates who belong to General category should not be aged more than 28 years. 

  • Age Relaxation: the candidates who belong to OBC/SC/ST will have 5 year age relaxation. PWD and woman candidates have also 5 years of age relaxation.
    • Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant or related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on the production of a certificate from appropriate authority.
    • Three years relaxation in age will be permissible to the candidates possessing L.L.M. Degree.

CBSE NET Application form and Admit Card

CBSE NET Application Form is available online. The candidates can fill the application form until 11 September 2017. The candidates who are willing to fill the application form need to fill it on or before the due date. The candidates applying for the CBSE NET have to clearly specify in the prescribed application form whether they are applying for both JRF & Eligibility for the Assistance Professor OR only for the eligibility for Assistant Professor.

Steps to Fill the CBSE UGC NET 2017 Application Form


The candidates, who are going to apply for CBSE NET November 2017 on the official website of CBSE NET they have to follow the following steps to successfully complete the application process:

STEP 1: First, the candidates have click on “Fill Application Form” then the candidates have to enter all the required details such as Examination details, Personal information, Educational Qualification in the Online Application Form 

STEP 2: The candidates have to Upload Scanned Images of Photograph and Signature

STEP 3: Payment of the CBSE NET Application Fee: The candidates have to pay the Application Fee by e-challan or debit/credit card.

  • Payment through e-challan:  The candidates have to select the bank in Syndicate or Canara or HDFC or ICICI to deposit the application fee through e-Challan mode.
  • Payment through Debit Card or Credit Card: The candidate can select Debit or Credit Card option to pay the application fee and follow the online instruction to complete the payment of the fee.

STEP 4: The candidate must take a printout of the completed page and keep it for future use.

CBSE UGC NET Application Submission


The candidates can submit the application through online mode only. The candidates are advised to take a printout of the completed application form for future use. There is no need to send the application form anywhere as the CBSE NET Application form is automatically submitted after the payment of the application fee.

CBSE NET Admit Card 2017


CBSE NET admit card will be available for download in the third week of October 2017. It is to be noted that NET Admit card will not be sent by post to any candidate. Candidates can download their Admit card from the link given below, and it is advised to take the printout of the same for the future references.

CBSE NET Result and Counselling

The following procedure and criteria will be followed for selection of the candidates:

STEP 1: Minimum marks to be obtained in NET for considering a candidate for the award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor: The candidates are required to obtain minimum marks separately in Paper 1, Paper 2 and Paper 3 as given below:

STEP 2: 
Amongst those candidates who have cleared step 1, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates

STEP 3: Top 15% candidates (for each subject and category), from the merit list mentioned under step II, will be declared NET qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor only.

STEP 4: A separate merit list for the award of JRF will be prepared from amongst the NET qualified candidates figuring in the merit list prepared under step 3.

CBSE NET Answer Key 2017


CBSE NET Answer Key is expected to be released in the second week of January 2017 by the conducting body i.e. Central Board of Secondary Education. CBSE NET UGC Exam 2017 will be conducted on 5 November 2017 at 90 centres across India. Earlier the conducting body was UGC and hence CBSE and UGC NET Answer Key are the same resources. The exam is divided into three sections, i.e., Paper 1, Paper 2 and Paper 3. CBSE NET Result 2017


CBSE NET Result 2017 for the exam scheduled to be conducted on 5 November 2017 will be released soon by the CBSE. Meanwhile, the candidates can check the result for the exam conducted on 22 January 2017. To check the result candidates have to visit the link given below.

The candidates have to login by entering the application number which was generated during the submission of the application form and the password which was selected by the candidates during the filling of the application form. No candidates will be sent the individual result by post or any other medium. Follow the link given below:

CBSE NET Exam pattern

CBSE NET Exam will consist of three papers consisting only objective type questions. All the three papers will be held on the same day in three different sessions.

CBSE UGC NET Question Papers (November 2017)

Paper 1:  Paper 1 will be of General Nature which is to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. Test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate will be tested here.

  • There will be a total of 60 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each out of which the candidate would be required to answer any 50. 

Paper 2:  This paper will consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions which will be based on the subject selected by the candidate. All the questions in this section will carry two marks.

Paper 3: Paper 3 will consist of 75 objective type. All the questions are compulsory and will be from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question in this paper will carry two marks.

  • Duration of Exam: Total exam duration will be 5 hours in 3 sessions.
  • Mode of exam: Pen-Paper based.
  • No. of Sections: Total 3 section will be in the examination.
  • No. of Questions: 175 Questions
  • Negative marking: There is no negative marking in the examination.
