About XAT

XAT 2018, also known as the Xavier Aptitude Test is an online exam for the screening of the best candidates of India for MBA Admissions across the reputed B-Schools of India. XAT 2018 will be conducted by XLRI on behalf of Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI) on 7 January 2018. The XAT exam is being conducted for past 60 years. XAT Score is accepted by more than 150+ B-Schools and Management Institutions all over India. The last date for the XAT registration without any late fees is 30 November 2017, and with the late fee is December 2017.

XAT Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants must be a graduate in any stream from any college or Institution which is recognised by Ministry of Human resource and development or equivalent.
  • Only those applicants are applicable who have undergone the education system of (10+2+3/4) years of studies.
  • Final year Students: Applicants whose results of graduation are awaited and whose graduation will be completed by 10 June 2018 are eligible to apply for XAT 2018 exam. 

NRI/Foreign Candidates: NRI And Foreign candidates can also apply but with a valid GMAT Score obtained between December 01, 2015 and December 31, 2017.

Note: Every XAT Score accepting college has their own criteria for shortlisting candidates, Applicants are advised to check their eligibility criteria before application submission.

XAT Application form and Admit Card

XAT registration will be done online. The fee can be paid online or in offline mode. The applicants have to carefully enter the required details and a valid Email ID for the verification purpose.

Applicants have to take the printout of the confirmation page after the successful payment of application fees. Only applicants those who have paid their application fees through demand draft have to send their confirmation page and Demand Draft in favour of “XLRI Jamshedpur A/c XAT” via registered post or speed post to the given address within 15 days of the date on which demand draft was issued.

  • Online submission- Applicants those who have paid fees through the online modes need not send their confirmation page anywhere and their application form is submitted.
  • Offline submission- Applicants those who have paid application fees through offline modes have to update their payment details in the registration form else they will not be allowed to upload their photo and signature.

XAT Admit Card 2018

XAT Admit Card 2018 will be available to download from 27 December 2017 which was earlier scheduled to be released on 20 December 2017. The candidates who have filled and submitted the application form successfully would be able to download the admit card. XAT Application Fee: Rs 1650

XAT Application with Late Fee: Rs 2000

Applicants who are only interested in admissions in XAT accepting colleges but not in XLRI need to pay a fee of Rs. 1650 (Rupees Sixteen Hundred and Fifty only). The candidates interested in XLRI programme(s) needs to pay an additional fee of Rs. 300 each whereas if registrations are done after November 2017, applicants have to pay Rs 2000 (including late fee) for registration and for selecting additional XLRI Programme they have to pay Rs 500 for each program.

XAT Result and Counselling

XAT Result 2018 will be declared in the last week of the January 2018. The XAT Score Card containing the performance of the applicant in XAT 2018 will be mailed individually to all the applicants to their respective address, as provided in the XAT registration.

XAT Exam pattern

XAT Exam Duration : 3 Hours 30 Mins from 10 a.m. to 1:35 p.m.

Mode of Exam: Online Exam

XAT Exam will be divided into the two parts i.e. Part 1 and Part 2, Part 1 will contain the objective type question subdivided into the three parts i.e.  A, B, and C, whereas Part 2 will contain the GK and Essay sections.

The XAT exam shall consist of the following sections:

  • English Language and Logical Reasoning (A)
  • Decision Making (B)
  • Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (C)

  • General Knowledge GK
  • Essay

Negative Marking

All the questions will be of equal marks in all 3 sections If an answer of any question is incorrect 0.25 marks will be deducted.

Other than that 0.05 marks will be deducted if an applicant left the questions blank or unattempted. This condition will be applicable beyond 13 questions left blank or unattended.
