About DASA

DASA 2017 is an admission process for those Foreign Nationals/ Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)/ Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) who wants to seek admission in undergraduate engineering, architecture & planning programmes in government engineering and technical institutes (Centrally Funded Technical Institutes).Admission on the basis of SAT Subject Test Scores (Mathematics Level 2, Physics & Chemistry). DASA is the scheme under the supervision of Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD) candidates living abroad who want to take admission in NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutions can apply for admission under this scheme via DASA 2017.

The responsibility of carrying the admission process for Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) for the session 2017-18 is entrusted upon VNIT Nagpur. Last Year DASA Admission Process was carried by NIT Srinagar and this year it will be co-ordinated by Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur.

DASA 2017 Application Form will be available from 1 April 2017 to 22 June 2017. The candidate has to pay the non-refundable application fee + 1st-semester tuition fees along with the application form.

DASA 2017 Admission (UG)

  • Admissions in DASA 2017 participating institutes will be based on SAT subject test scores (Mathematics Level 2, Physics and Chemistry).
  • SAT is a standardised test conducted by College Entrance Examination Board in US https://www.collegeboard.org/
  • SAT subject score is to be sent to IIIT Hyderabad electronically through College Board, USA. The code for college is 6997.
  • Minimum SAT Score required for admission through DASA 2017 is 1600.(subject to revision)
  • A total number of seats available for allotment is 2345 seats.

DASA Eligibility criteria

Age

  • candidates must have born on or after October 01, 1992.

Academic Qualification

  • Candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry by May 2017 or Earlier

Minimum Qualifying Marks

  • Minimum CGPA: Candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent in the qualifying examination.
  • Minimum SAT Score: Candidate should have a minimum aggregate score of 1600 (out of maximum 2400) in old format SAT, and also a minimum total score of 2000 (out of a maximum of 2400) in SAT Subject Tests in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • Candidates must note that both the SAT and SAT subject Tests scores are mandatory.

Residential Requirement

  • The candidates must hold a Foreign Passport
  • Candidates must be a Foreign Nationals/ Persons of Indian Origin who have completed the qualifying examination in any country (including India).

OR

  • Candidate must be an Indian Nationals who have completed his/her Class 11 & 12 or equivalent from outside India.

DASA Application form and Admit Card

DASA 2017 Application Form can only be filled online by the candidates. DASA Application Form 2017 will be available from 1 April 2017 to 12 June 22 June 2017. The Process to fill DASA Application Form and Submission of the Application Form is given below.

Application Process is a two stage process:

  • Online application: Candidates have to apply online at the official website and submit the required documents online (scanned and uploaded).
    • Kindly Note: No hard copy of the application or supporting documents needs to be sent.
  • SAT subject test score: The candidates are required to send the SAT Subject Test Score to IIIT Hyderabad through College Board, USA (Institute Code 6997).

DASA 2017 Application Form Submission


The candidates must completely fill the DASA 2017 Application Form and submit it online only by uploading the required scanned documents. However, candidates are advised to take a print-out of DASA 2017 completely filled in Application Form for future use.

DASA Fees

DASA 2017 Application Fees

The Non-Refundable Application Fees for DASA 2017 admission is US$ 300.

The candidate has to pay the application fee + 1st-semester tuition fees at the time of filling the DASA application form. If the candidate satisfies all the eligibility conditions of DASA 2017 and gets a SAT Score of minimum 1600 and SAT Subject Test scores 2000 only then they should apply for the admission.

UG Course Annual Fees Structure

The tuition fees for pursuing UG Course at the Participating Institute is USD 4000 per annum. Tuition Fee Waiver to the SAARC Countries: Foreign Nationals, who are nationals of SAARC countries, are eligible for 50% Tuition Fee waiver provided they have passed the qualifying examination in SAARC countries.

DASA Result and Counselling

DASA 2017 UG Admission will be done on the basis of their SAT and SAT subject test scores and the Institute choices given by them. SAT Subject Test scores received through College Board directly by the Institute before June 2017 will be considered for the preparation of DASA 2017 merit list and seat allotment.

Seat Matrix for Special Round 


Seat matrix for the special round in all institutes in India is released on the official website of DASA on 29 July 2017. The candidates can check branch-wise seat matrix for all institutes comes under DASA. To check special round seat matrix, the candidates have to select the name of the Institute.

DASA 2017 Merit List - In case of a Tie

The Primary Ranking criterion is the total of SAT Subject Tests Scores in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. All Applicants will be ranked on the basis of the total marks. But in case of a Tie, the selection will be done on the basis of the following:

  • Maths of SAT II
  • Physics of SAT II
  • Chemistry of SAT II
  • Total Score of SAT
  • Critical Reading of SAT
  • Mathematics of SAT
  • Writing of SAT

In case of further Tie, candidates will be interviewed in person or over Skype to break the tie.DASA will not issue a separate seat allotment letter for the candidate. They need to check that on the website.

DASA Exam pattern

No exam is conducted for admission through DASA  rather admissions in the DASA participating institutes will be based on SAT and SAT subject test scores (Mathematics Level 2, Physics and Chemistry).
