About AIIMS MBBS

AIIMS MBBS 2018 medical entrance exam has been conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi on 26 May 2018. The exam was conducted in online mode to provide admission to 807 MBBS seats. The medical entrance exam was held in close to 171 cities in India. AIIMS MBBS 2018 was being conducted on 26 and 27 May. Each day, the exam is held in two shifts - morning and evening. More than 2.5 lakh students appeared for the exam. AIIMS MBBS exam contains 200 multiple choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, General Awareness and Aptitude & Logical Reasoning. After the exam, students can check for the AIIMS MBBS 2018 answer key. But as per the norms AIIMS MBBS does not release the question paper and answer key. But if in case the answer key for AIIMS MBBS get released, the students will be able to check it here. AIIMS MBBS Result will be declared on 18 June 2018, in the form of merit list. Based on the merit rank, aspirants will be called for AIIMS counselling. The seat allotment will be done on the basis of All India Rank, preferences of colleges and seats available. Changes in AIIMS MBBS 2018

  • AIIMS MBBS Exam will be conducted on 2 dates and two shifts per day
  • This time it will be a computer-based test
  • This time entrance exam will be conducted for 9 AIIMS Instead of 7. AIIMS Guntur and AIIMS Nagpur is the new addition.
  • Application fee has been increased by 50% of the last year fee.

AIIMS MBBS Seats

AIIMS offered Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program for a minimum of 5½ academic years including one year's compulsory internship. The internship would be held in the hospitals and rural health centres recognised by AIIMS. AIIMS MBBS Eligibility criteria

Age Criteria for all Candidates: The candidates must be 17 years old. Candidates born on or after 2 January 2002 are not eligible to apply.

AIIMS MBBS Admission to Indian Nationals

The eligibility criteria provided below is for Indian nationals. The candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria before applying for the AIIMS Entrance Exam. 

Academic Qualification:

  • Candidates must have passed the Class 12 under the Class 12 Scheme/ Senior Qualifications School Certificate Examination or any equivalent examination from a recognised University/Board of any Indian State.
  • Candidates must have scored minimum  60% marks in PCB & English and minimum 50% marks in case of SC,ST, PWBD Candidates.
  • Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam can also apply.

Minimum Qualifying Marks:  

Candidates must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in general and OBC category and 50% marks in SC/ST category in the  English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects.

AIIMS MBBS Admission to Foreign Candidates

  • The Foreign candidates who are nominated by the Government of India are not required to appear in the Competitive Medical `Entrance Examination (Applicable to AIIMS, New Delhi only).
  • They should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the subjects of English, Chemistry, Physics and Biology in their Intermediate Science or an equivalent examination to be eligible for admission to the M.B.B.S. Course.

AIIMS MBBS Application form and Admit Card

The candidates willing to appear in AIIMS MBBS entrance exam can fill the application form of the AIIMS MBBS through online mode. There is no procedure to fill the offline form. Applicants must note that the submission of the application form is to be done in Online mode only, Sending hard copies of application forms are not required. For admission to all the campuses, candidates have to fill only one AIIMS Application form.

AIIMS MBBS Admit Card 2018

AIIMS Admit Card 2018 will be released on 10 May 2018. AIIMS Admit Card is an important document, and the candidate will not be allowed to appear in the AIIMS MBBS Entrance Exam 2018 without the admit card.

AIIMS Admit Card 2018 will only be released for the candidates whose application is successfully accepted by the Examination Authorities. Applicants can get their official admit cards by following the link given below.

Tuition fees of US $ 75,000 (divided into three equal instalments for pre-clinical phase, para clinical phase and clinical phase of MBBS course) will be charged from the foreign national students admitted to MBBS course at AIIMS.

AIIMS MBBS Result and Counselling

The AIIMS MBBS Entrance exam result is likely to be declared on 18 June 2018. Following merit lists will be prepared after the result declaration of the Competitive Entrance Examination.  Roll numbers of candidates who qualify for admission will be available on AIIMS website.

Tie Resolving Method for AIIMS MBBS Exam

The overall merit / ranking shall be based on the Percentile scores of the Total Raw Scores. The method adopted for breaking ties (similar Percentiles) shall be:

  1. Biology: Higher Percentile scores in Biology will result in higher ranking
  2. Chemistry: If Biology Percentiles do not break the tie, higher Percentile scores in Chemistry will result in higher ranking
  3. Physics: If Biology and Chemistry Percentiles do not break the tie, higher Percentile scores in Physics will result in higher ranking
  4. Age: If Biology, Chemistry, Physics Percentiles do not break the tie, the candidate elder by age will be ranked higher

AIIMS MBBS Counselling 2018


Initial counselling for MBBS at AIIMS would be held at Jawaharlal Auditorium, AIIMS, New Delhi. Thereafter counselling will be held at AIIMS, New Delhi for allocation of MBBS seats of all seven AIIMS.

The AIIMS MBBS entrance exam will be conducted for a total of 807 MBBS seats in Nine institutes of AIIMS. Among the total seats, the 400 are for general and 215 are for OBC category candidates. 

Each new AIIMS Institute has 100 seats for MBBS programmes. The AIIMS is also located in the following states

  • Bhopal
  • Patna
  • Jodhpur
  • Rishikesh
  • Raipur
  • Bhubaneswar

  • Mode of Exam: Computer Based Test
  • Duration of Exam: 3½ hours
    • First Shift: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM
    • Second Shift: 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM
  • Language: English / Hindi as per the choice of candidates.
  • Type of Questions: Objective type questions
  • Number of Questions: 200
    • 140 questions will be MCQs and 60 questions will be of "Reason Assertion" from Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
