About WBJEE Medical

WBJEE Medical Admissions is conducted by DoHFW, West Bengal. The merit list of West Bengal MBBS 2018 has been released on 28 June. Aspirants who have registered successfully are included in West Bengal MBBS 2018 merit list. WBJEE medical 2018 merit list is derived on the basis of NEET scores. A link to download West Bengal state rank list 2018 has been provided below on this page. Based on the state merit rank in WBJEE medical merit list 2018, aspirants can register for online counselling. West Bengal MBBS 2018 counselling choice filling has begun from 29 June to 3 July. West Bengal MBBS counselling result for round 1 will be available on 5 July 2018. The selected aspirants must go for online admission along with respective document and deposition of fees. West Bengal MBBS admission 2018 is the basis for admission to around 2550 MBBS and 1000 BDS seats allotted in government and private colleges of the state. Admission to MBBS and BDS course will be done on the basis of NEET. Ministry of AYUSH has also demanded all the state government to admit students in AYUSH Undergraduate courses through NEET So the NEET scores are mandatory for BHMS/ BAMS/ BUMS courses. It has become mandatory from the year 2018 onwards.

Entrance Exams Required for WBJEE Courses

The admission in some of the medical courses will be done on the basis of the NEET scores. Although, NEET score is not required for all the medical courses and the admission in the WBJEE Medical courses is done on the basis of some other entrance tests which is mentioned below.

WBJEE Medical Eligibility criteria

Nationality: Candidate must be citizen of India

Age Limit: Candidate must be 17 years as on 31 December 2018

  • There is no upper limit on age for all the courses except Marine Engineering course where candidate should not be more than 25 years as on 31 July 2018

Residential/ Domicile requirement:

  • Candidates must be residing continuously in West Bengal for at least ten years ( as on 15 December 2018

OR

  • Candidates parents must be the permanent resident of West Bengal having the permanent address within the State of Bengal.

Academic  Qualification: 

  • The candidate must pass Higher Secondary(10+2) Examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination recognised by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences
  • Candidate must have Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as compulsory subject with minimum pass marks individually in each subject
  • Candidate must have passed (10+2) with minimum 50% (55% for SC/ST/PwD/OBC candidates) marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology combined together and minimum 30% minimum marks in English
  • In addition, candidates must have to secure at least 50 percentile marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences taken together (40 percentile for SC/ST candidates, 45 percentile for OBC-A, OBC-B candidates).
  • The candidate must have passed Class 12 Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Biotechnology and any other elective subject with English as a compulsory subject. 
  • Candidates who are appearing in Class 12 Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2018 are also eligible to apply.

Percentage Criteria: Candidates must have secured minimum 50% marks in PCB group for general candidates and 45% (for General-PH) and 40% (for SC/ST/OBC candidates).

WBJEE Medical Result and Counselling

WBJEE Medical 2018 Counselling

Aspirants will be called for counselling process on the basis of their merit position. Check WBJEE counselling procedure below.

Written Exam

  • On the basis of the result of Written Admission Test, candidates will be shortlisted according to their scores in the exam.
  • Merit list does not make a candidate eligible for admission to any concerned University / College 

Counselling procedure for WBJEE Medical /Dental courses

  • The dates and time of the aforesaid counselling process will be notified on the website in due course
  • E- Counselling: Admission to M.B.B.S. Course in Medical Colleges and B.D.S. Course in Dental Colleges will be done through e-counselling after the publication of Merit List.
  • Venue for counselling: Central Selection Committee (AYUSH) BAMS, certificate BHMS Swastha Bhawan, GN29 Sector-5, 
  • Seat Allotment: The seat allotment will be based on the rank position in the Merit List of the Joint Entrance Examination having regard to preferences for Medical or Dental Colleges and subject to passing the qualifying examination satisfying the eligibility criteria.

Final Selection: On the basis of personal interview and counselling, the final list of candidates will be prepared.

WBJEE Medical Exam pattern

The admission to the aforementioned courses will be done on the basis of NEET scores. The candidates are advised to check the exam pattern for the NEET and prepare accordingly. The candidates are advised to follow the syllabus while preparing for the NEET.

WBJEE MBBS/ BDS/ BHMS/ BAMS/ BUMS Exam Pattern

NEET 2018 will be conducted in pen and paper mode only and the total duration of the exam will be 3 Hours.

  • Marking Scheme: Four Marks will be awarded for each correct response. There is Negative marking in NEET 2018 exam and one mark will be deducted from the total score.
  • The medium of exam: NEET 2018 will be conducted in 10 languages that are Hindi, English, Bengali, Assamese, Oriya, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Telegu and Kannada.
  • Number of Questions: There will be a total of 180 questions from all the subjects given in the table below:
