NATA Colleges 2018 & Number of Seats

This article discusses the NATA colleges that are the list of architecture colleges that accept NATA score for admission into the First year of 5 year B.Arch Degree Course at all recognised Institutions in India. NATA is just a qualifying exam, and the students have to go through the admission process of each college individually as there is no common NATA Counselling for admission into architecture colleges. It is necessary for the college offering B.Arch that they get approval from Council of Architecture (COA) and AICTE approval, in this case, will not be considered as a sufficient approval for the college/institution.

NATA 2018 Exam and Admission

National Aptitude Test in Architecture, popularly known as NATA is a single largest National Level Examination for admission to various Architecture courses in NATA colleges in India. It is conducted by National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA) to select the students for five years B.Arch Programme in various colleges across India. NATA is a compulsory exam for taking admission to any Architectural College or course in India (Except NITs & IITs) and is an eligibility test for admission into the Architecture Course.

NITs offer admission on the basis of JEE Main Paper 2 Score
IITs offer admission on the basis of Architecture Aptitude Test
All other architecture institutes offer admission on the basis of NATA Score

Current NATA policy states "the main reason for conducting NATA is to provide a single scheme of examination for holding aptitude test so that the students from all over the country can apply for admissions in architecture seats in institutions spread across the country." Final Admission processes are carried out only by the concerned designated authorities of the respective states/ institutions who accept the score of NATA.

Number of Architecture Colleges in India

As per the official COA website, there are about 468 institutions, which impart architectural education in India leading to recognised qualifications. The standards of education being imparted in the participating colleges/departments of universities deemed universities, affiliated colleges/schools, IITs, NITs and autonomous institutions is governed by Council of Architecture. NATA Colleges Counselling

This is the counselling schedule for some of the states. Many colleges conduct their individual counselling. There is no centralised counselling for admission into B.Arch Courses. Some states conduct joint counselling for admission in the architecture courses. We will update the counselling schedule of other states as and when we receive the information. How to apply for NATA?

Brief Study of Application Procedure

Step 1: Candidates have to Register Online at the Official website of NATA
Step 2: Registration Fee Payment of NATA

NATA Score is valid only for the year in which the exam was conducted for example NATA 2018 Score is valid only for admission into Architecture Colleges in 2018-19 academic session.

B.Arch Admission through NATA Entrance Exam

NATA is just an Aptitude Test so merely appearing for the test and receiving the Score Card does not imply that the candidate could be given any priority for admission. Admission Process and the hustle and bustle related to it begins now!!!
Candidates will have to contact various admission authorities with NATA Score Card and other details. The admissions are offered on the basis of marks obtained in NATA. The admission criteria may differ from college to college.
A candidate may also contact schools of architecture directly for information as to when the admission process is scheduled to begin
