Aeronautical Engineering colleges in India can expect a rise in their popularity of the course in near future as Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India’ initiative starts yielding results. There are many aeronautical engineering colleges in India offering aeronautical engineering or aerospace engineering.

Aeronautical Engineering is all about the science related to aircraft either military or civil, construction, research & development, testing and maintenance of aircraft etc. Presently in India, there are approximately 150-200 aeronautical engineering colleges in India which offer courses in Aeronautical Engineering.

  • Job Prospects in Govt. Sector: After pursuing B.Tech the student can opt for M.Tech and a Ph.D. and typically be employed in government-owned enterprises such as ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation), HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.), NAL (National Aeronautics Labs), etc.
  • Job Prospects in Private Sector: Apart from the govt, sector opportunities there are some emerging opportunities as many global airlines operators and aircraft companies are planning to open their MRO- Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facilities in India. In a recent development, Boeing has taken a decision to assemble either its Apache or Chinook helicopter in India.
